Dried Pineapple Slices Gora.Bio

Why is pineapple covered in scales?

Pineapple is a unique plant. For example: do you know how and where its fruits grow and why it is covered with scales? We didn't know anything about it ourselves. But now we are ready to share amazing facts.
This is a herbaceous plant. The fruit emerges directly from the centre of a green rosette of long leaves, reaching a weight of about 2 kg. Very similar to how cauliflower grows.
The largest producing countries are the USA (Hawaii), South Africa, Asian (tropical) regions, Australia, and the homeland is in Brazil.
The strange appearance - scales - are due to the inflorescences. You should have seen how beautiful it blooms!

Let's take a look at its usefulness.

  • vitamins: C (the concentration is greater than in lemon), A, niacin, E, K;
  • macronutrients: potassium, calcium, silicon, magnesium, sulphur, chlorine, phosphorus, sodium;
  • about 20 types of microelements; mono- and disaccharides;
  • saturated fatty acids; Omega-3, Omega-6. 100 g of the edible part of the fruit contains: proteins - 0.3 g; fat - 0.1 g; carbohydrates - 11.8 g; water - 85.5 g; fibres - 1 g; energy value - about 50 kcal.

This composition improves metabolism, invigorates, and is useful in fighting diseases of the heart, kidneys, hypertension, blood (thrombosis, thrombophlebitis), and colds. Promotes better metabolism, hence maintaining a stable weight.

All useful qualities are preserved in dried pineapple. To be more precise: the water leaves, but the concentration of minerals greatly increases. Calorie content reaches 280 kcal per 100 grams, which is about 5-6 times higher than in fresh pineapple. Dried pineapples are sweet and sour. The sugar content in 100 grams of the dried product is approximately the following:

  • sucrose - 5.5;
  • fructose - 2.5;
  • glucose - 2.

Despite this, they remain a dietary product. Dried fruits (any) are much more expensive, which is associated with fluid loss. This means that much more raw materials are needed for production. Dried pineapple slices are good to take with you wherever you go so go and get one straight away.
